Why is my Companion Ticket Discount Code $99 instead of $50?

The price of the annual Bank of America Companion Ticket will be increasing from $50 USD to $99 USD on October 1, 2009. Your current Companion Ticket Discount Code and any Discount Codes earned before October 1 will remain at $50 until they are used or expire. All new Companion Ticket Discount Codes issued on or after October 1 will be at $99. New accounts opened after October 1, 2009 will include a Discount Code for a $99 Companion Ticket.

Companion Tickets have no black-out dates and can be used with any published fare, including our First Class fares. They can be used for travel on all Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air operated flights including our service to Hawaii, Mexico and Alaska.

What is the Business Card Companion Ticket Discount Code, when do I get it, and how do I use it?

The Alaska Airlines Visa® Business Card includes the benefit of an annual $99 Companion Ticket. It is a paper Discount Code mailed to you about 4-6 weeks after you are approved for your credit card, and then sent out each year prior to your enrollment anniversary. To redeem this paper Companion Ticket Discount Code, please read the terms and conditions provided on the Discount Code. Mileage Plan credit can be earned and upgrades are allowed.

The Discount Code entitles the holder to one $99 companion fare when traveling with a passenger who has purchased a ticket written of value equal to at least $250 USD, provided both passengers are booked in the same reservation at the same fare, traveling together and ticketed at the same time. It is valid for new ticket purchases only and must be redeemed by presenting your Alaska Airlines Visa Business Card, valid I.D., along with the original Companion Ticket Discount Code. Travel must be completed by the date printed on the front of the Discount Code, on flights operated by Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air only. The Discount Code is not applicable on codeshare flights or tour packages, and cannot be combined with any other coupons or discounts. In addition to the terms and conditions of this Companion Ticket Discount Code, all rules and restrictions of the applicable published fare apply. When will my Companion Ticket Discount Code show up in my My Account?

The Companion Ticket Discount Code for the Alaska Airlines Credit Card is automatically added into the primary cardholder's My Account within 1-2 weeks after approval, and then on an annual basis dependant on your enrollment anniversary date.

If you need a My Account, the primary cardholder's Mileage Plan number should be displayed on the credit card, and a My Account profile needs to be created for that Mileage Plan number to access the Companion Ticket Discount Code.

How do I get my Companion Ticket Discount Code? The Bank of America Companion Ticket Discount Code can be accessed by signing into your My Account. The Discount Code is issued once a year and is automatically added to your My Account profile under the "My Discount Codes" section.

How do I use my Companion Ticket Discount Code when I make a reservation?

Your Bank of America Companion Ticket Discount Code can be applied to a new reservation for flights only on Alaska Airlines and/or Horizon Air through our Web site, or with Reservations over the phone for a small processing fee. Your reservation must be made for two people booked in the same itinerary, traveling together, and ticketed at the same time.

You can redeem your Discount Code by selecting the Shop button within the "My Discount Codes" section of your My Account profile. This will automatically enter your Discount Code on the New Flight Reservations page. After continuing, the companion fare amount will be reflected on the Reservation Details page. The Discount Code will not be redeemed until you have selected the Purchase button on the Reservation and Billing Information page.

I put a reservation on hold with my Companion Ticket Discount Code, and when I look at my reservation the Discount Code is no longer applied.

Our system does not allow you to store a Discount Code in a held reservation. In order to apply a Discount Code to a held reservation, you will need to retrieve the held reservation and select the link "Enter a Discount Code". Once entered, you can continue with your purchase.

Do I have to travel by the expiration date on my Companion Ticket Discount Code?

The expiration date listed on your Bank of America Companion Ticket Discount Code indicates the date you must redeem your Discount Code and ticket your reservation by. Once ticketed, travel can be completed after the expiration date.

You can view your Discount Code's expiration date by logging into your My Account profile and viewing the "My Discount Codes" section. The expiration date cannot be extended, and once your Discount Code has expired, it cannot be exchanged.

Can I use my Companion Ticket Discount Code when purchasing First Class fares?

The Bank of America Companion Ticket Discount Code is valid on published fares through alaskaair.com or over the phone with Alaska/Horizon Reservations. These fares include First Class and Web Specials.

Is there any way to expedite receiving my Companion Ticket Discount Code? I have a reservation on hold.

Companion Ticket Discount Codes are automatically added to your My Account profile and cannot be expedited. To take advantage of the discount, you must wait until the Discount Code has been deposited into your My Account.

Can the companion traveler using the discount earn mileage credit?

Both travelers can earn mileage credit for their flights in their own Mileage Plan accounts. Please be sure to provide the Mileage Plan numbers when booking your reservation, or when you check-in for your flight.
