Mileage Plan Policy Change

Mileage Plan Account Inactivity Policy

In an effort to reduce costs while minimizing the impact to our customers, we will be changing our Mileage Plan account inactivity policy. Currently if an account has no activity for 3 years it becomes inactive.

Effective April 1, 2008, accounts with no mileage activity for the previous 2 years will become inactive and the miles will be removed from the account. Any mileage earning or award redemption activity on your account will keep it active. This includes Alaska Airlines, Horizon Air and partner flight credit or mileage earned with any of our other partners including the Alaska Airlines credit and debit cards, and our large selection of hotel, car rental and specialty partners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How can I keep my account active?

A. Your account will remain active as long as you have mileage earning or award redemption activity at least once every 2 years.

Q. When will my account become inactive?

A. The first day that accounts will become inactive under the new policy is April 1, 2008. Accounts with no mileage earning or award redemption activity for the previous 2 years will be inactivated on this date. For example, if your account has had no activity since April 1, 2006, the account will become inactive on April 1, 2008.

Q. How do I know if I have had activity on my account?

A. You can sign into your Mileage Plan account at alaskaair.com and check your activity for the previous 24 months.

Q. If I change my address will that count as account activity?

A. Changing your address or updating account information will not prevent your account from becoming inactive. Miles must be credited or redeemed from your account for it to remain active.

Q. Once my account is inactivated is there a way to reinstate it?

A. Yes, accounts can be reinstated for one year from the date of inactivation for a $75 fee. After one year, accounts will be deleted and the mileage can not be reinstated.
