Kohala Coast

- Hapuna Beach State Park - great body surfing and swimming, variety of beach amenities
Kona District
- Kona Coast State Park - mixed black and white sand beaches, great snorkeling, swimming and marine wildlife-viewing
- Kealakekua Bay Underwater Park - great spot for snorkelers and scuba divers, fantastic marine wildlife-viewing
Puna and Kau Districts
- Kapoho Bay (Puna) - great for swimmers and snorkelers, numerous tidepools for exploration
- Green Sand Beach (Kau) - unusual olivine beaches, secluded but well worth the drive, swimming, bodysurfing, diving, some visitors choose to go "au natural"
- Punaluu Beach Park (Kau) - black-sand beach, excellent marine wildlife-viewing
Hilo District
- Leleiwi Beach Park - black-sand beach, snorkeling and marine wildlife-viewing
- Onekahakaha Beach Park - great family beach, excellent for swimming
- King Kam Beach - great family beach, good snorkeling, popular site for divers
