Our employees are making a great difference in the communities we serve, and we want them to be acknowledged for their hard work. Our Dollars for Doers program does just that. Under this program, our employees are given $10 per hour by the company to be donated to the organization(s) for which they volunteer, up to $1,000 per year, per employee.
Our Matching Gift Program brings the company and individual employees together in support of organizations our employees have strong relationships with. Under this program, Alaska and Horizon will match employee contributions to nonprofit institutions or organizations which meet our corporate giving guidelines.
Operation Air Care consists of the signature companywide events sponsored annually by Alaska and Horizon to support community organizations through financial assistance and employee volunteerism.
We kicked off this initiative in 2009 by pulling together to "Pack a Plane for Hunger Relief". This cause benefited over 20 local food banks across our network during the three week drive. All together, our employees collected money and food totaling over 64,000lbs, or enough to pack our 737-Freighter twice, more than doubling our goal.
As a company, we are involved with hundreds of organizations and causes supporting and fostering diversity and inclusion in our communities, and in our world, such as: Out & Equal, Aids Walk, Make a Wish Foundation and Habitat for Humanity. We also coordinate our own outreach events such as our Eagle Flight Camps, which are held every summer to provide underprivileged students a chance to experience the aviation industry firsthand.
