Seating

Exit row seating may be requested upon check-in. Refer to our Emergency Exit Row Seating page for qualifications and restrictions.

Typical seat widths are 17 inches in Coach Class and 21 inches in First Class. For your comfort, and the comfort of those around you, Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air have a published policy for purchasing a second seat. Visit our Customer of Size Second Seat section for more information.

Carry-on Baggage

All carry-on baggage, laptop computers and electronic devices must be stowed under a seat or in an enclosed overhead bin upon boarding and prior to landing, as directed.

Infants and Children

For customers traveling with lap infants under the age of two, please visit our Traveling with Infants and Toddlers section for information about infant fares and additional carry-on allowances.

General Advisories

As a precaution due to the H1N1 (Swine Flu) Virus, pillows and blankets are not currently available onboard Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air flights. Please plan accordingly.

Customers are requested to use the lavatory in their assigned cabins and are required to do so on inbound international flights; exceptions may be made for customers with special needs.

Alcohol may not be consumed onboard an aircraft unless it has been provided by a flight attendant. No alcohol may be served to any person who appears to be intoxicated, or who is under 21 years of age.

Firearms are not permitted in the cabin of any Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air flight. Visit our Transporting Firearms section for more information.

Smoking, including the use of electronic smoking devices, is not permitted on any Alaska Airlinesor or Horizon Air flight.

Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air prohibit the use of items that do not meet FAA Regulations or Company regulations. This includes:

• Seat-belt extensions not provided by Alaska Airlinesor Horizon Air
• Devices that restrict the recline of seats
• Self-heating meals or beverages
• Personal air purifying devices
• Air filters placed on overhead vents

Medical Conditions

Customers may only use supplemental medical oxygen provided by Alaska Airlines. Visit our Oxygen and Other Medical Assistance section for more information.

We realize some of our customers may have allergies to peanuts. Please visit our Peanut Allergy section for more information to ensure your comfort and safety.

Pets

Pets must remain in a closed pet carrier for entire flight. Carrier must be stowed for taxi, takeoff and landing. Visit our Traveling with Pets section for more information about traveling with a pet in the cabin.

Electronics

During taxi, takeoff and landing, all portable electronic devices and headphones must be turned off. During flight, your flight attendant will advise you when you may use the allowed portable electronic devices listed below. Connecting any electronic item to the aircraft's power supply is prohibited at all times (Exception: Electric razors may be plugged in to the electrical outlets in the lavatories).

Headphones must be worn when using electronic devices with external speakers, such as portable CD and DVD players, computers, etc.

The following electronic items are prohibited from use after aircraft door closure, must remain stowed for take-off and landing, and may not be used until the aircraft door opens at destination:

• Cell phones may only be used while boarding door is open at departure city and while taxiing to the gate upon arrival
• Radios - AM, FM, VHF, CB
• Televisions
• Remote controlled games or toys
• Global Positioning System (GPS)
• Hand-held computers or electronic devices receiving a signal (email, text messages, etc.)
• Wireless mouse/keyboard
• Handheld game consoles using wireless communication

The following electronic items must be stowed during take-off and landing and may only be used when your aircraft is parked at the gate and when the aircraft reaches 10,000 feet:

• Cell phones and other two-way personal electronic devices provided the transmitting capabilities are disabled
• Any device not specifically listed below as "acceptable for use"
• Laptop computers, Pocket PCs and PDAs. Refer to our Inflight Wi-Fi section for guidelines and wireless limitations
• Hand-held electronic games (without remote controls)
• Walkman-type tape players
• CD, MP3, DVD or Videotape players
• Electric shavers
• Video Cameras
• Noise canceling and other types of headsets
• Digital Cameras
• Portable voice recorders
• Virtual pets

The following electronic items are always permitted onboard our aircraft and acceptable for use at all times, including take-off and landing

• Cochlear implants
• Electric watches
• Hearing aids
• Heart pacemakers
