Second Seat Policy

Our goal is to best serve our customers' unique needs and provide a comfortable and safe flight for all passengers. Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air have had a Second Seat Policy for many years. Today's consistently high flight loads have brought to light the need to re-emphasize this seating policy. We hope the information provided is helpful for your future travel.

Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air require the purchase of an additional seat for any customer who cannot comfortably fit within one seat with the armrests in a down position. Alaska Airlines and/or Horizon Air cannot guarantee travel on a given flight unless a second seat is purchased in advance.

We have also updated the policy to improve the experience for customers who purchase a second seat. Beginning January 1, 2008, if all flight segments between origin and destination depart with an empty seat, customers who have purchased a second seat can receive a refund for that portion of their trip.
