Upgrading into First Class on Alaska Airlines can be accomplished in a number of ways. You can use Mileage Plan™ Miles, you can request a Paid Upgrade, and in the case of our Elite Level Mileage Plan™ members, you can upgrade for free.
Mileage Plan™ Upgrades
When traveling on a purchased ticket on Alaska Airlines, you may use Mileage Plan™ miles to upgrade your ticket to the First Class cabin. Tickets must be purchased from Full Flex or Value fare categories only.
To shop for fares that qualify for Mileage upgrade, and to view available upgrade space, please use the Upgrade Preference selection filter when shopping for flights.
Once your ticket is purchased, request a First Class Upgrade award by calling Alaska Airlines Reservations at 1-800-252-7522.
Upgrades can also be requested, if available, within 24 hours of flight departure through Web Check-In, or on the day of departure at an airport Check-In Kiosk.

Mileage Upgrades are booked in "U" Class and exclude award travel, industry, promotional discount, or two-for-one fares. No stopovers allowed. Mileage Upgrades can be used in conjunction with Money & Miles (AS50) Award Tickets. Upgrades are subject to availability as "U" Class may not be available on all flights. Full Flex and Value fare categories are booked in Y, YAS, S, B, M, or H classes of service.
Paid Upgrades
Paid Upgrades may be available within 24 hours of flight departure through Web Check-In, the Check-In Kiosk, airport ticket counter, or at the departure gate.

Fare categories are booked in Y, YAS, S, B, M, H Q, L, V, K, G, T, and W classes of service.
