Spring and summer 2015 was busy travel time for our CFO Russell Wilson. He has jetted all over the country with Alaska Airlines, and took his teammates to the islands of Hawaii.

During the off-season, he picked up a few new ideas to share with the Alaska team – new tips to go from great to outstanding in delivering the best customer experience. Russell led the team in exercises to build focus, attention to detail and synchronization.

As Russell heads back to his regular job (Go #3!!), we would like to share some stories from our summer fun together, from the Alaska Company Retreat to pulling planes on the tarmac for the benefit of kids. It’s been a great year, and we couldn’t be happier to have Russell on board.

So have fun, and check back for more over the season.

Teaming up with Russell

Russell Wilson demonstrates his devotion to kids in the community during his weekly visits to Seattle Children’s Hospital. Alaska Airlines has joined the cause, donating over $350K in cash and services, plus hosting the Alaska Plane Pull for Strong Against Cancer, an initiative to end childhood cancer.

In the Plane Pull, Team Russell faced Team Joel, led by TV personality Joel McHale. The teams included contest winners and Alaska employees, and they competed to pull a 60 ton plane 25 feet in the shortest time. Watch this short video to see how the contest went down.
