Tips for Hassle-Free Summer Travel

Alaska Airlines wants you to have a safe, fun, and hassle-free travel experience. We hope these tips will help smooth out the summer travel bumps.

Packing Tips

Carry-On Baggage

Familiarize yourself with carry-on and checked baggage rules and you'll save time during check-in and at the security checkpoint.

  • Look closely at container sizes for any liquids, gels, or aerosols that you're planning to bring along on your trip. Remember the 3-1-1 for carry-on. 3 ounce (100ml) or smaller containers for liquids or gels - 1 quart-size zip top baggie - 1 bag per traveler. Don't forget, you'll have to screen those liquids separately, so keep them in an easily accessible spot in your luggage.

Check In Online or with a Mobile Device

Check in up to 24 hours before departure.

Check in for your flight up to 24 hours prior to departure using Web Check-In, Mobile Check-In, or our mobile app.

  • Pay attention to your boarding pass - you may have been randomly selected for TSA Pre✓™ Program, which will save you time in the security line.
  • Pay for baggage fees during online or Mobile Check-In and save time at the baggage drop.
  • For select flights, you can even print your bag tags at home with Self-Tag Express.

Track Your Flight

EasyBiz provides travel management tools to expedite the purchase process.

Check flight status before leaving for the airport.

  • Sign up for a flight alert and we'll alert you immediately of significant last minute changes by email or text message.

Allow Extra Time

Manage your corporate travel budget with EasyBiz ticket reports.

The busy summer travel season means more people trying to get to and through the airport.

  • Allow extra transportation time as the airport drive, shuttle transportation, and parking may be congested.
  • Allow extra time for security and customer service lines.

Made it through security with lots of time to spare? Purchase a Board Room membership or One-Day pass and wait for your flight in comfort - with complimentary drinks and snacks.

Plan Ahead For Your Pets

You'll always find the lowest fares at alaskaair.com

Reserve space for your pet, either in the cabin or in the hold as soon as you purchase your tickets, as the number of pets allowed per flight is limited.

Additionally, pet travel may be restricted on all Alaska Airlines flights during extreme weather.
