Located roughly 10 miles to the northeast of Barrow, this narrow spit marks the northernmost point in the United States. Many organized tours stop here during the summer months, but you can also reach the point via taxi (be prepared to walk from where the road ends). If you've come this far, Point Barrow is not to be missed!
Across from the town's airport is this memorial dedicated to Will Rogers, famous American humorist, and Wiley Post, the first pilot to fly solo around the world. Their plane crashed nearby during poor weather conditions on August 15, 1935.
Whaling is a huge part of the local heritage, and this center looks at how boat crews hunted for these creatures and used other local wildlife to create essentials such as sealskin boats and heavy fur coats. There are also monthly events that celebrate traditional dancing and other Eskimo customs.
