Prudhoe Bay, Alaska

Prudhoe Bay is primarily a 'company town," where resources and support services focus on the largest oil field in North America. Access to Prudhoe Bay and the Arctic Ocean is mostly restricted to oil field workers. But you can see the fields with authorized tour companies that have entry permits.

Experienced guides can also take you on a journey down rugged 414-mile Dalton Highway, or "Haul Road" as Alaskans call it. The road was constructed for the Trans-Alaska Pipeline and goes from the town of Deadhorse on Prudhoe Bay all the way to Fairbanks. A road trip on the Dalton highway can take you to the majestic Yukon River region.

The Deadhorse area is home to herds of caribou, swans, eagles, polar bears, and the beautiful white arctic fox. Experience the phenomenal midnight sun of the summer months.
