Howelsen Hill boasts a remarkable heritage. It is Colorado's oldest continuously operated ski area, since 1915, and has the largest and most complete natural ski jumping complex in North America. Howelsen has been the training ground for more than 79 Olympians making over 130 Winter Olympic appearances, 15 members of the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame, and 6 members of the National Ski Hall of Fame.
The Steamboat Ski Touring Center offers 15 km of trails groomed for classic and skate skiing for novice to advanced skiers, plus 10 km of snowshoe trails. Our trails wind across meadows, into Aspen groves and along Fish Creek, offering some of the most enjoyable and accessible winter recreation in the Yampa Valley.
The Steamboat Gondola will be open Friday - Sunday, September 6th through September 29th with mountain biking, the Steamboat Bike Park, hiking trails and the Coca Cola Adventure Zone.

Steamboat is a resort near Steamboat Springs, Colorado with 2965 acres of ski-able land, 3,668 vertical feet and 20 lifts. Traditionally it has been known for its cowboy and mining roots, but the resort is shiny and new with all the modern accommodations. This mountain is actually a 6-peak mountain range, which encompasses all ability levels and has some... of the best glade skiing around. You will not find jaw-dropping chutes here, but there is plenty of fun for tree skiing. Especially by Mount Werner, there are a number of double black diamond runs with some steep descents and tree skiing.
Steamboat gets some of the most snow in the region with an average 335 inches per year. This snow is also known to stay deep and stick because fo the prevalence of trees in the area. Steamboat also hosts a large number of easy winding trails that offer a new and fun experience for those at that ability level. A number of slope-side lodging is available and downtown Steamboat Springs is only a couple minutes away by either car or shuttle. Overall, Steamboat is a fun place to take a multi-day trip and experience the outdoors in a combination of the best tree runs and deep snow.
