Edmonton, in Alberta, Canada, has certainly earned its moniker as the Festival City and its reputation as a cultural center. A sophisticated arts scene is kept healthy with performances at such renowned venues as the Art Gallery of Alberta, the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium, and the Winspear Centre - a nearly acoustically perfect symphony hall. A more casual concert experience can be found at a number of smaller venues, including The Starlite Room, The Pawn Shop, and the Yardbird Suite - an Edmonton jazz institution since 1957.

In addition to fine arts, Edmonton also has enough historical sites to satisfy a history buff. The grounds of Fort Edmonton Park and the brick walls of the Rutherford House are saturated in the region's history.
