Green Douglas Fir trees surround Eugene on three sides, while the Willamette and Mackenzie Rivers flow through it. Take a walk or break into a run on Pre's Trail, a bark-mulch path in the grasslands and woods of Alton Baker Park. This 4-mile trail was named for International Track star and 1972 Olympics competitor Steve Prefontaine. He came from Coos Bay on the Oregon coast. He has been described as one of the most inspiring distance runners of all time.
Immerse in live music, browse artisan ceramics and jewelry, and experience the community spirit of Eugene at the Saturday Market - rain or shine. While you're there, dig into a Deluxe Burrito from Ritta's. And be sure to try a piece of Dana's cheesecake.
Eugene has a number of surprisingly delicious eateries. Warm up your morning with a latte or espresso at Full City Coffee. Enjoy eggs benedict for breakfast at Cornucopia, an award-winning neighborhood hub. For a sweet dairy treat, go to local favorite Prince Puckler's Ice Cream and get a scoop of marionberry or Mexican chocolate ice cream. Cap your afternoon with a climb to the top of Skinner or Spencer Buttes for breathtaking views.
