Fresno Chaffee Zoo is home to approximately 125 species, with more always on the way. They are the only zoo in North America that currently houses Northland green geckos (on exhibit) and Southern tent tortoises (off exhibit).

The late Ralph Woodward, a long-time Fresno resident, bequeathed the major portion of his estate in 1968 to provide a regional park and bird sanctuary in Northeast Fresno on the South bank of the San Joaquin River between Highway 41 and Friant Road. The initial 235 acres, combined with additional acres acquired later by the City brings the park to an amazing 300 acres. Now packed with amenities, Woodward Park is the only Regional Park of its size in the Central Valley.

Theo Kearney is now one of the Central Valley's most important agricultural historic sites and includes 11-mile long Kearney Boulevard; 230-acre Kearney Park; and five original structures: Superintendent's Lodge, Servants' Quarters, Carriage House, Ice House, and Oil House. The site lends itself to not only telling the story of the colony farm system and the development of the raisin industry but the story of the development of agribusiness in California's Central Valley and the Valley's transformation into the most productive agricultural region in the world.

The Meux Home Museum recaptures the flavor of Victorian Fresno by presenting a middle-class residence -- furnished in the period, as a representative house museum. A costumed docent will lead you on a one hour tour of this restored urban dwelling of the 1890's. By modern standards elaborate, the Meux Home was nonetheless a middle-class residence, built for $12,000 from a carpenter's catalog.
