Juneau, Alaska Overview

Juneau, Alaska's third-largest city and seat of the state government, is defined by its rugged terrain and history. Nestled in Tongass National Forest, Juneau is a prime jumping-off point for outdoor adventures. kayaking, whale watching, and even glacier trekking are all accessible from Juneau. A novel mode of transportation for most visitors is the seaplane, which allows travelers to access the majority of Alaska's backcountry.

For those less enticed by the wiles of the wild, more sedate adventures are just as abundant. Pan for gold, visit the Alaska State Museum, or lean over a boat's railing to catch a glimpse of orcas, seals, and even humpback whales.
