Kelowna, Canada Overview

Located in the agriculturally rich Okanagan Valley, Kelowna was built upon the fruit-growing industry. Because of this distinction, some of the finest produce originates from this region. In addition to farm-fresh food, views of flowering orchards provide a scenic backdrop. The city is also heralded for its many wineries, each of which offers wine tasting and a few that will even provide guests with a behind-the-scenes look into the world of wine. Dine at Old Vines Restaurant at Quails' Gate Estate Winery, or Sunset Bistro at Summerhill Pyramid Winery to take in great wine along with picturesque views of Lake Okanagan. The arid climate and beautiful sunny days common to this region are also perfect for a game of golf.

While an undeniable draw, Kelowna's natural assets aren't all this city offers. It is steeped in history, especially that of the Okanagan people. The Nk'Mip Desert and Heritage Centre provides insight into the history of the area's original residents, while the Kettle Valley Steam Railway and the Fintry Estate allow visitors to glimpse early-20th-century life.
