Mazatlan, Mexico Overview

Mazatlan stretches across the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean and draws in vacationers from throughout the world. The city's white sand beaches, numerous offshore islands (Isla de las Piedras and Isla Tortuga, a gathering place for sea lions, are recommended) and rich cultural history all add up to a prime vacation. In the center of the city is Old Mazatlan, where the 19th-century twin-steeple cathedral towers over artisan markets and local restaurants.

Sunset views are spectacular from any of Mazatlan's waterfront areas, as the sun tinges the water and sky a myriad of pastel colors. Once the sun sets, the city's nightlife becomes a main attraction, and visitors to the Zona Dorada or the Malecon select from a number of dance clubs and late-night hot spots.
