Vancouver, Canada

Vancouver's original settlement - the historic Gastown district - formed when Hastings Mill logging sawmill was established in the 1860's. The international Vancouver of today offers boutiques of Yaletown, discoveries in Chinatown and Greektown, spices from the Punjabi Market. Vancouver is one of the largest film and television production centers in North America. And the most beautiful rainforest is close at hand.

Stroll on Kitsilano Beach, as the city skyline and mountain backdrop rise up in the distance. Outdoor art installations greet you everywhere at Cardero Park. Walk high in the trees across the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Sip good coffee as you take in the vibrant color of the Granville Island Public Market. In wintertime, Cypress and Grouse Mountains offer skiing within a 30-minute drive of downtown.

Enjoy breakfast at Nelson the Seagull. Savor goat cheese and olive snacks at the Salt Tasting room, a hidden gem in a Gastown alley. Try Vancouver's Japanese-style hotdog, the Japadog - the original hotdog stand is by the Sutton Place Hotel. The Granville Entertainment District offers many choices for a seafood dinner. Top it off with warm chocolate cake and salted caramel ice cream at the Pourhouse.
