Cuyutlan Salt Museum
Cuyutlan is about 40 miles from Manzanillo. Buses leave roughly every half-hour from the bus station in Manzanillo's old town, by the docks. You may also hire a taxi for around $20. Cuyutlan is very small; it is easy to walk around town or take a taxi. The Cuyutlan Salt Museum is a half-hour walk north from the village. From Cuyutlan, walk two very long blocks north of the plaza. You will see the salt museum on the left. It is housed in a barn made of hand-hewn beads. The barn and the storage buildings are about 100 years old. There are whalebones, photos from when The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe were filmed here in 1951 and tools from the salt mines from about the mid-1800s. Most impressive is seeing how salt is mined. Sea salt is also sold here.

Deep-Sea Fishing in Manzanillo
A huge sailfish sculpture graces Manzanillo's downtown in honor of the fish's abundance in nearby waters and charter fishing boats are more than willing to take you out to catch your own. The day at sea itself is enough of a relaxing adventure, but if you do land a fish, some charter boats have deals with local restaurants that will cook it for you.

Pacific Paddlers Kayak Tour
The Pacific Paddlers Kayak Tour takes you around Manzanillo's mangrove-lined lagoons, offering many opportunities to observe the diverse bird and plant life that make Colima so unique. Frequent stops are made to observe the various water birds, and other flora and fauna. After about an hour, there will be a break for snacks and drinks, and a short swim to cool off. The saltwater lagoon has a channel that leads to the sea, and once rested, you'll head out to the ocean for a snorkel on the beautiful 10,000-year-old coral reef in shallow water. The "Aquarium," as the reef is called, is replete with a plethora of colorful fishes and living coral. Since the kayaks don't tip, it's easy to get on and off. The trip will culminate with a stop at a seaside thatched-roof restaurant called a ramada for refreshments and lunch, if desired. This area was once a small fishing village that has existed for more than 450 years. If you choose to stay for lunch, the restaurant serves excellent seafood at an additional cost.
