Palm Springs, California

Palm Springs is an oasis in a hilly desert landscape. The city is just over 100 miles east of Los Angeles and has been a resort destination since the late 19th century. After World War II Palm Springs became a hotbed of mid-century modern architecture and design. Palm Springs continues to grow and develop, but remains a place to relax and rejuvenate.

Navigate the town with a map from P.S. Modern and look for the houses Palm Springs is famous for. Enjoy the desert's sunny weather with a variety of hikes. Head to the Agua Caliente Indian Canyons and walk the short Palm Canyon trail in the shade of dozens of palm trees. Take the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway and climb over 8,500 feet above sea level to the top of San Jacinto Mountain. Sunrises and sunsets are not to be missed.

Get ready for the day with a stop at Cheeky's. Their ever-changing menus reflect what's fresh at the market, but you can always count on dishes like bacon flights and homemade cheddar scones. Dive into a heaping plate of enchiladas at La Perlita. Top off an evening out with a crisp Desert Facial cocktail the Amigo Room.
