210|West Gallery Talk: From Global to Local: Trade and Daily Life in New Spain's Northern Frontier
On the first Tuesday of the month we invite an artist, scholar, or cultural tastemaker to explore a work of art or issue that is unique to the West. 210|West holds geographical significance for the Briscoe Western Art Museum - it refers to our address, 210 West Market, and the area code of San Antonio. Amy Porter, Assistant Professor of History at Texas A&M at San Antonio, investigates objects in the Museum's collection-highlighting material culture and the adaptability of frontier settlers-and shares how the Spanish world shaped the frontier of its empire, particularly in Texas.
