Frequently asked questions
Existing programs
I’m a HawaiianMiles member. Do I need to sign up for Mileage Plan account?

We're excited to share that you can now earn and redeem miles for flights on Hawaiian Airlines. Mileage Plan elites also have access to select benefits when flying on Hawaiian Airlines including priority check-in, priority boarding, complimentary bags, complimentary preferred seats, and Extra Comfort seats (at check-in, when available).

Also, Mileage Plan members with an existing HawaiianMiles account can match or boost their status across both loyalty programs. However, if you don’t have elite-qualifying miles in an existing HawaiianMiles account, there’s no need to link accounts.

When will Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles combine into one program?

Later this year, HawaiianMiles and Mileage Plan will be integrated into a single loyalty program. We’ll share more details this summer.

Will the combined loyalty program affect my current Mileage Plan benefits?

We’ve already introduced several new generous benefits this year, including milestone rewards and benefit selection, more ways to earn elite qualifying miles, and the ability to use your miles toward unforgettable experiences with Mileage Plan Unlocked. You’ll continue to enjoy the benefits you know and love throughout 2025.

Will my miles expire or lose value when the programs combine?

No. Your miles will keep the same value and quantity. There are no changes to how you redeem miles.

Will Club 49 remain part of the new joint loyalty program?

Club 49 benefits will continue unchanged. If you're a current Club 49 member, you don't need to take any action to keep your benefits.

Are there any changes to my Alaska Airlines Visa® card benefits?

You now receive one free checked bag for yourself and up to six guests on the same reservation when flying on Hawaiian Airlines-operated flights (when you use your card to book). You also earn 3 miles per $1 spent when booking Hawaiian Airlines flights through alaskaair.com. These benefits apply to both Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® and Alaska Airlines Visa® Business cardholders.

Additional card benefits for Hawaiian Airlines-operated flights are expected to roll out later in 2025.

When will I be able to use my $99 Companion Fare on Hawaiian Airlines?

Starting this summer, guests can use their Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® or Alaska Airlines Visa® Business companion fare on any Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines-operated flight within North America. Bookings must be made through alaskaair.com. Stay tuned for more details about this expanded benefit in the coming months.

Do I need to sign up for HawaiianMiles before the programs combine?

If you only have an Alaska Mileage Plan account: No action is needed. Your Mileage Plan account will automatically be used in the new combined program.

If you have both Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles accounts: You should link your accounts to ensure all your miles, elite qualifying miles, upgrade certificates, and other benefits transfer seamlessly to your account when the programs combine.

Earning miles

When booking an Alaska Airlines operated flight, enter your HawaiianMiles number on your reservation. Learn more here. You may book on either HawaiianAirlines.com or AlaskaAir.com.

As a HawaiianMiles member, can I earn miles on Alaska’s global airline partners or on oneworld airline partners?

While you cannot earn HawaiianMiles when flying with Alaska's partners, you can use your Mileage Plan number to earn when flying on Alaska’s global partners, and can seamlessly transfer miles between your Mileage Plan account and HawaiianMiles account at a 1:1 ratio for no charge. Make sure you have an account in both HawaiianMiles and Alaska’s Mileage Plan. Miles can only be transferred between accounts owned by the same individual. Transfer now.

Which frequent flyer program should I place on my booking?

Does this mean you’re going revenue-based earn like other programs?

We’re committed to offering distance-based earn rates, now and in the future. When we combine programs later this year, there will be no changes to the rate you earn.

Once the new joint program launches, will I be able to earn miles on oneworld® and other Global Partners?

You’ll continue earning on oneworld® and other Global Partners like you do today. We aren’t changing the earn rate across any of these partners.
