Irregular operations policy

This policy only applies to tickets issued on Alaska Airlines' 027-ticket stock. For delays or cancellations involving an Alaska Airlines' operated flight, validated on another airlines' ticket stock, contact the validating carrier for assistance with the reissue process. If delays or cancellations of flights ticketed separately, will impact a 027 ticket, contact Alaska’s Inside Sales Desk for assistance. Failure to reissue or cancel affected flights on a 027 ticket prior to departure will result in forfeiture of ticket value.

An irregular operation is defined as a flight that arrives or departs later or earlier than scheduled. This could be due to a flight cancellation, omission of a scheduled stop, or any other delay or interruption in the schedule or operation of a flight. Alaska will make an effort to accommodate all affected passengers and communicate via TTY messaging to the booking agency.

To verify if an Alaska marketed flight is on time, delayed or canceled check flight status.

Change and reissue due to irregular operations:

If an Alaska ticket has been affected by delays or cancellations meeting any of the criteria below, the add-collect may be waived to accommodate the customer on a new flight. Add-collects are waived for the affected flights only. All affected flights must be validated on a single ticket or actively held in the same booking. Any changes made to flights in the record that are not directly impacted by the irregular operation will be considered voluntary changes; in which case normal fees, add-collects and taxes will apply.

  • You are scheduled to travel on an itinerary with more connection points than that of the original itinerary;
  • You are downgraded to a lower class of service;
  • You are an individual with a disability and are scheduled to travel through one or more connecting airports different from the original itinerary; or

If the change to your client's ticket meets any of the criteria above use the guidelines below to accommodate them on a new flight.

Accommodating due to irregular operations on AS flights

  • Book the new flights for the day before, same day or day after, the original travel.
  • Book identical routing if possible. It's okay to add or subtract a connection point or use co-terminals when necessary.
  • Rebook on AS or HA operated flights only.
  • Book in the original class of service if possible.
  • If the original class of service is not available, book the lowest available class of service, in the same cabin.
  • Place the waiver code "ASIRROP" in your tour code box to avoid charging a change fee or add collect. Only one reissue with the waiver, per itinerary change, is permitted. Once reissued, future changes will be considered voluntary and fare rules will apply.
  • Add an OSI message to explain the accommodation.
    • OSI AS REISSUE DUE TO IRROP AS123 SEALAX 10AUG19
  • Add an OSI message to confirm that the passenger has been notified of the changes.

Accommodating due to irregular operations on AS* or other airline flights

  • Book the new flights for the day before, same day or day after, the original travel.
  • When the change involves other carriers: re-book the original carrier or choose an AS operated / AS* codeshare flight in the same market. If there are no acceptable options to accommodate contact our inside sales desk for assistance.
  • Flights originally sold as AS* codeshare must be re-booked as AS* codeshare unless the customer chooses a flight operated by Alaska. Do not change from an AS* codeshare to the flight number marketed by the operating carrier.
  • Book in the original class of service only.
  • Book identical routing if possible. It's okay to add or subtract a connection point or use co-terminals when necessary.
  • Place the waiver code "ASIRROP" in your tour code box to avoid charging a change fee or add collect. Only one reissue with the waiver, per itinerary change, is permitted. Once reissued, future changes will be considered voluntary, normal fare rules apply.
  • Add an OSI message to explain the accommodation.
    • OSI AS REISSUE DUE TO IRREGULAR OPERATION AA1195 MIALAX 10JAN16
  • Add an OSI message to confirm that the passenger has been notified of the changes.

Refunds due to irregular operations

  • If no acceptable accommodations can be found, a refund may be offered when delays or cancellations meet the criteria above. This applies for both AS and other airline schedule changes, affecting a 027 ticket.
  • The "ASIRROP" waiver code must be included on the REN (ARC Refund Exchange Notice).
  • Add OSI documentation explaining the reason for the refund and the “ASIRROP” waiver code must also be added to the record.
    • OSI AS REFUND DUE TO IRREGULAR OPERATION AS123 SEALAX 10JAN16
