Automated flight firming procedures

With airline load factors reaching an all-time high, it has become increasingly difficult to secure the most desirable flight options for your premium customers.

For this reason, Alaska Airlines uses an automated flight firming process. The automated process works as follows:

Reviews all reservations made through computer reservations systems on Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air
• Verifies ticketing requirements for fare booked
• Looks to see if ticket has been issued
• If ticket is not issued within the required time frame, the reservation is canceled.

In verifying that ticketing has occurred, flight firming looks for a ticket number that is automatically placed in an OSI field when the ticket is generated.

If a manual ticket is issued, you must type in the actual 13-digit ticket number for each passenger in the PNR using this format:

• OSI TKNM SMITH 0271234567890
• OSI TKNM JONES 0272345678901

TKTN/TKNO/TKNM/TKTM are all acceptable codes to use. The flight firming program is designed to read a four-letter command beginning with TK- - after the TK it will accept, read and pass on the actual 13-digit ticket number.

If there is more than one passenger in the PNR, enter an OSI for each passenger's ticket number.

Government contract fares

In all cases, the fare rules of the ticketed itinerary take precedence over guidelines listed below.

Federal government contract fares held more than 48 hours prior to departure, require ticketing no later than 48 hours prior to departure. If reservations are made less than 48 hours prior to departure, ticketing is required 6 hours prior to travel.

State government contract fares must be ticketed within 3 days after reservations are made. When combining fares, the most restrictive ticket time limit will apply to the entire ticket.
