Name correction and transfer policy

Name transfers and corrections are only allowed on completely unused tickets. If the ticket is partially used or includes any other airline space, the name cannot be corrected. US-based agencies have a 24-hour window from the time a ticket is issued or reissued to VOID and start over. (International agencies have until midnight on the day of the issue or reissue to void.) We recommend that you and your client verify all ticket details, including name spellings, birth dates and secure flight information during this 24-hour time period to prevent any reissue fees.

Not eligible for name correction

The following ticket types are not eligible for a name correction:

  • Ticket is issued on other airline ticket stock
  • Ticket includes other airline operated or codeshare space
  • Ticket is partially used
  • Ticket requires change to name and date of birth
  • Ticket requires change to itinerary
Major name correction

There are no charges for a true name correction. For all major name correction inquiries, which are not covered under the waiver below, travel agents must chat or call our inside sales desk and one of our representatives will assist you.

Minor name correction

Travel agents may correct an error or typo on a ticket using the waiver code "ASNC". The waiver must be added to the tour code box at the time of reissue. Only one reissue using this waiver is allowed. A debit memo will be issued, if a ticket is reissued a second time using the same waiver code (ASNC).

Minor name corrections are allowed under the following circumstances:

  • Corrections of no more than three letters (i.e. Britny for Britney or Brittany; John for Jon)
  • Obvious misspellings (i.e. Jeffrey for Geoffrey, Smith for Smyth, Gonsales for Gonzalez)
  • Completing a first name (changing Jeff for Jeffrey, Tom for Thomas, etc.)
  • Names inverted (i.e. JOHN/Doe for DOE/John)
  • Last name change due to marriage or divorce

When possible, make the correction in the existing record. It is only necessary to create a new booking if your GDS will not allow you to modify the name in the existing record.

Name transfers

Alaska does not process name transfers through our call centers, online, or at ticket counter locations. Travel agents may process name transfers through a GDS. No waiver code is required.

The name transfer can be processed by changing the name field of the existing record or starting over in a new record. The resulting ticket must be priced at a current fare. Charge the $125.00 name transfer fee plus any difference in fare. Name transfers will require a $125 fee regardless of the fare rules.

Exception: Name transfer fee is waived when transferring a ticket from a Gold member to another traveler. The fee waiver is based on the status of the current ticket holder. The name transfer fee does apply when transferring a ticket from a non-Gold member to a Gold member.

If your client is holding the last seat on the aircraft and you are unable to change the name in the existing record without losing the seat, chat or call our inside sales desk for assistance.

Name corrections can be made for Saver fare tickets, but name transfers and changes are not allowed.
