Cabin Seat Baggage
Any item that is too large for stowage under the seat or in the overhead bin (e.g., a large musical instrument), but which must be carried into the cabin, may be accepted as cargo in the cabin.
The item will be transported in a seat next to you and will be considered "cabin seat baggage".
Cabin Seat Baggage must be prearranged to ensure a sufficient number of seatbelt extensions will be loaded on the appropriate aircraft. Advance notice of 24 hours or more is required for groups of 5 or more with cargo in the cabin.
Cabin Seat Baggage cannot be booked online. Please call a Reservations Agent at 1-800-252-7522 (TTY: Dial 711 for Relay Services)
for assistance. Our standard ticketing fee will be waived.
Cabin Seat Baggage is charged 100% of the applicable adult base fare plus 6.25% cargo tax.
Cabin Seat Baggage and Connecting Flights
Cabin Seat Baggage will be accepted for travel with connections to any Alaska Airlines flight as well as connections to other carriers. Our Reservations Agents can provide you with more information.
There are specific seating requirements when transporting Cabin Seat Baggage. For example, on most Alaska Airlines flights (001-999), you and your Cabin Seat Baggage may only be accommodated in the First Class cabin. Our Reservations Agent can verify seating requirements for your flight.
Standard checked baggage charges and waivers apply for each purchased seat.
In addition to the Cabin Seat Baggage piece, each passenger is limited to only one carry-on item (not to exceed 10" x 17" x 24") plus one personal item (such as a purse, briefcase or laptop) regardless of how many seats are purchased.
Customers with Cabin Seat Baggage can earn mileage credit for both the customer's seat and for the Cabin Seat Baggage seat. Mileage credit for Cabin Seat Baggage does not count towards elite status.
