Changing your travel plans

We've eliminated change fees on Main and First Class fares — making travel more flexible.

If you need to change or cancel your travel plans, here are a few things you'll need to know.

  • No change fees will apply, but a difference in fare may be charged for your new flights.
  • Per our no-show policy, you must change or cancel your reservation before your flight departs in order to receive future travel credit.
  • Same-day confirmed changes can be made during the check-in window. A $25-50 fee will apply, but no difference in fare is charged.
  • Saver fares cannot be changed.
  • Saver fares may be canceled for a full refund under our 24-hour cancellation policy. For tickets purchased on or after July 19, 2023: Saver fares are eligible for a credit of 50% of the ticket value when canceled at least 14 days prior to departure of the first flight on the ticket.

No-show policy

If you think you'll miss your flight, let us know before your flight departs in order to receive the value of your ticket as credit to use on a future flight in your wallet. Please note that Saver fares* are not eligible for changes.

If you don't cancel your ticket before your flight departs, we'll apply our no-show policy to your entire reservation.

This means:

  • We'll cancel your flight reservation and all continuing and return flights.
  • The money and/or Mileage Plan™ miles spent on non-refundable fares will not be available as credit towards a future flight.

Until July 19, 2023, Saver fares may only be canceled under our 24-hour cancellation policy.. For tickets purchased on and after July 19, 2023, Saver fare are eligible for a credit of 50% when canceled at least 14 days prior to departure of the first flight on the ticket.

Is my flight eligible for online changes?

You can make your changes online if:

  • Your reservation was purchased directly through Alaska Airlines.
  • No one in your party has checked in for any flights on this reservation.
  • Your reservation doesn't include Saver fares or government fares.
  • Your reservation includes no more than 7 guests and/or isn't part of a larger group booking.
  • Your reservation contains no more than 8 flight segments.
  • Your reservation is not a Mileage Plan™ award ticket for travel on Cathay Pacific or LATAM.
  • Your reservation doesn't include certain special service requests, such as pet accommodations.

How to change your flight
Saver fare

Saver fares are not eligible for changes.

Saver fares may be eligible for cancellation under our 24-hour cancellation policy or our peace of mind waiver.

Until July 19, 2023, Saver fares may only be canceled under our 24-hour cancellation policy. For tickets purchased on and after July 19, 2023, Saver fares are eligible for a credit of 50% when canceled at least 14 days prior to departure of the first flight on the ticket; or they may be eligible for cancellation under our 24-hour cancellation policy.


Main or First Class fare
Step 1: Look up your reservation with your confirmation number and last name.
Step 2: Choose the flight you’d like to change.
Step 3: Select a new flight. Any difference in fare or credit due will be displayed on the right.
Step 4: Continue on to checkout to finalize the change(s).

We'll send you an email confirmation once the change is complete.


Companion fares
Step 1: Look up your reservation with your confirmation number and last name.
Step 2: Choose "make changes to this trip" and your companion discount will apply to your new flights.
Step 3: Choose the flights you'd like to change.
Step 4: Select new flights. Any difference in fare or credit due will be displayed on the right.
Step 5: Continue on to checkout to finalize the change(s).


Partner award bookings

Many partner awards can be changed online for no fee.


Group reservations

To change a group booking, call our groups desk at .


Tickets booked through Expedia, another agency, or another airline

For tickets purchased on or after July 19, 2023, Saver fare is eligible for a 50% credit, when canceled at least 14 days prior to departure of the first flight on the ticket, or they may be eligible for cancellation under our 24-hour cancellation policy, otherwise no changes are permitted.

Step 1: Look up your reservation with your confirmation number and last name.
Step 2: Select Cancel.
Step 3: The ticket value will be refunded to your original form of payment.

We'll send you an email confirmation once the cancellation is complete.
