Bozeman, Montana was built up around the Bozeman Trail, an offshoot of the Oregon Trail through the Gallatin Valley. The founder of both the trail and the town, John Bozeman, saw possibility in the region and began building in 1864. The beauty and bounty of Bozeman quickly attracted residents and visitors and continues to draw guests today. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, Bozeman offers fishermen and hikers an abundance of options. Fly fish for trout on the Gallatin, Yellowstone, and Missouri Rivers. Follow Highway 191 for views of snow-capped mountains in Gallatin Canyon. Stop and hike the Lava Lake Trail in the summer months - walk past waterfalls and a sun-lit little lake. Explore dinosaur fossils and habitat displays at the Museum of the Rockies. Drive a little way west to Norris and the Water of the Gods natural hot springs, where you can soak and sip a beer while watching wildlife run by.
