Plan a trip to Redding

Surrounded by Northern California’s dramatic landscapes, Redding spans the Sacramento River just east of Shasta State Historic Park. The city’s top attraction is Turtle Bay Exploration Park, a 300-acre gathering place that contains a glass-and-wood eco-museum, an arboretum and a seasonal butterfly garden all integrated into the local ecosystem. Outside the museum, the Sundial Bridge serves the dual purpose of transporting pedestrians across the river while also acting as a huge, working sundial. The downtown area is lined with trendy eateries and brewpubs, many featuring live music that spills into the streets. At the heart of the city is the historic Cascade Theatre which plays host to concerts and performances from local and national acts. To get into nature just an hour away, visit Lassen Volcanic National Park where you can see four different types of volcanoes and hike over 150 miles of trails. A bit further, you’ll find McArthur-Burney Falls Memorial State Park, known for its 129-foot waterfall and scenic camping spots.
