on American Airlines
Enjoy additional benefits on top of oneworld® Priority benefits when flying with American Airlines as an Atmos Rewards member.

Extra legroom seating

Atmos Rewards status members have complimentary access to select extra legroom seats—known as Main Cabin Extra seating—on American Airlines flights.
  • Atmos™ Gold, Atmos™ Platinum, and Atmos™ Titanium members can access these seats at the time of booking.  Seats can be selected during the booking process on aa.com, or via the "My trips" section of aa.com immediately after booking.
  • Atmos™ Silver members can access Main Cabin Extra seats within 24 hours of travel.
Seating is subject to availability. There is no waitlist for Main Cabin Extra seats.
Upgrades on American Airlines

Atmos Rewards Status members are eligible for complimentary upgrades when traveling on American Airlines flights.
  • Upgrades are within the U.S. (including Hawaii) and between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Bermuda and Central America (based on availability).
  • Upgrades are valid from the Main Cabin or Premium Economy to the next class of service.
  • Upgrades will be confirmed as early as 72 hours before seats are available, depending on your status.
  • One companion traveling in the same flight and reservation allowed for Atmos™ Gold and above.
  • Flights must be marketed and operated by Alaska or American. To opt out of receiving an upgrade after booking, call American Airlines Reservations line at 1 (800) 433-7300.
Upgrade Priority

You can view your priority on the upgrade list in the American Airlines app after check-in starting 12 hours before your flight or at the departure gate.

On Alaska operated flights, the status level order is:
  • Atmos™ Titanium
  • Atmos™ Platinum
  • American AAdvantage® Concierge Key, Executive Platinum and Platinum Pro members (all of which are oneworld® Emerald status)
  • Atmos™ Gold
  • American AAdvantage Platinum (oneworld Sapphire)
  • Atmos™ Silver
  • American AAdvantage Gold members (oneworld Ruby)
Within status level, other elements determine your waitlist priority. Please see the aa.com page for more detail.

On flights operated by American, the status level order is:
  • American AAdvantage® Concierge Key, Executive Platinum and Platinum Pro members (all of which are oneworld® Emerald status)
  • Alaska Status members with oneworld Emerald Priority status level (Atmos™ Platinum and Atmos™ Titanium)
  • American AAdvantage Platinum (oneworld Sapphire)
  • Atmos™ Gold
  • American AAdvantage Gold members (oneworld Ruby)
  • Atmos™ Silver
If eligible for companion upgrades and traveling with a guest, you and your companion will be prioritized together.
We’re committed to continually improving your experience. Based on guest feedback, we’ll be sunsetting American Airlines systemwide upgrade vouchers beginning in 2025, while we continue to invest in other ways to provide improved access to and utility of your Alaska Air upgrade benefits. You’ll also continue to enjoy eligibility for unlimited complimentary upgrades on American Airlines in North America (based on availability) - no upgrade certificates required.
