Choose Carbon Credits
Reducing our climate impact

We set a long-term goal to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040 and we’re pursuing a five-part path to get there: operational efficiency, fleet modernization, sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), new technology, and high-quality carbon removals as needed to close the gap.

Learn how we're reducing our climate impact

Since announcing our goal, we made historic orders for new, more efficient aircraft, built a coalition of SAF partners, and advanced the use of artificial intelligence to fly more effective routes.

Recycling and reducing waste

We see the impacts of waste—especially plastic pollution—in our communities. We’re proud to be the first US airline to eliminate the five biggest sources of plastic waste from onboard service: plastic bottles, cups, straws, stir sticks, and citrus picks, as well as continue our industry-leading inflight recycling program. By partnering with Boxed Water™ and serving drinks in responsibly-sourced paper cups, we’re saving over 2.2 million pounds of plastic from landfills every year. We also encourage our guests to #FillBeforeYouFly, avoiding waste altogether by bringing refillable water bottles and filling them up at the airport before a flight.

Strengthening ecosystems where we live and fly

We fly to some of the most beautiful places on earth and want our kids, grandkids, and generations to come to enjoy these incredible locales as well. We partner with organizations like the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, Surfrider, and travel2change to restore habitat in critical ecosystems throughout the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, California, and Hawaii. By restoring habitat through these projects, we're also balancing our company-wide water use.
