If you're serving and have a trip on the horizon, we've come up with a few ways to make it simpler and more affordable.
Book military fares.
We offer special military fares to active duty U.S. military personnel with a valid military ID (“Current Service Members”) and their accompanying spouse and dependent children in some markets. These fares apply to Current Service Members traveling on an official excused absence, and to those who previously served in any one of the US military agencies.

Current Service Members, and their accompanying spouse and dependent children, who are ticketed to travel on Alaska but are unable to travel as scheduled due to military orders or directives may change or cancel and refund their tickets without restrictions.
Visit an Alaska Lounge.
Alaska Lounge Day Passes are complimentary for Current Service Members traveling on official government-sponsored travel booked through SATO and ticketed to fly on an Alaska flight departing within 3 hours. All other Current Service Members traveling on a paid or award ticket, may purchase a day pass at the discounted rate of $30 when traveling on Alaska. Available in all Alaska Lounge locations, subject to space availability. A valid Military ID must be presented.

Trained service animals travel for free with proper documentation. We also offer Current Service Members and their dependents a pet shipping discount on Alaska Air Cargo. In order to qualify for the cargo discount, you must:
- Present a common access card (military I.D.), indicating Uniformed Services, at the time of payment and at the airport. No photocopies will be accepted.
- Provide military orders indicating Permanent Change of Station (PCS) at the time of acceptance within 60 days of report date. Orders must be reviewed at the time of tender. If no orders are provided, or are outside the date range, the full AVI rate will be charged.
- Please note: Discount pricing is only applicable to pets traveling as cargo for shipments directly related to moving on official orders. The discount does not apply to commercial shipments (e.g. breeder) or personal moves.
Save on snack attacks.
Did you know that all Current Service Members and their accompanying spouse and dependent children get a 15% discount on food purchased during a flight with us? Just show your military ID to our flight attendant, and then prepare to snack.

When it's time to fly, listen closely to the announcements at the gate. Our gate agent will offer Current Service Members the opportunity to board the flight early. Stow your bags before most guests and settle into your seat to relax.

The conversations and dedication of a thoughtful group of employees were the catalyst for the creation of the Alaska Airlines Fallen Soldier program, which allows us to pay proper tribute to soldiers on the way home to their final resting places.
