Saver fare is Alaska’s save-a-lot-of-cash travel experience that provides Main cabin benefits, like comfortable seats and a free carry-on, but excludes seat selection and limits changeability.
Saver fare includes many travel benefits of Main cabin, with some restrictions. Seats are assigned at check-in, fewer miles are earned for your travel, and flight cancels are limited.

Saver fare FAQs
Saver fares do include some limitations on booking, refunds, changes, and seat selection.
Saver fares are available at alaskaair.com, Alaska Airlines reservations, and participating travel agencies. Saver fares are available on selected routes and may not be available on all flights; Saver fare inventory may be limited. Check alaskaair.com for availability.
No changes or refunds are allowed to Saver fares outside of our 24-hour cancellation policy. For tickets purchased on or after July 19, 2023, Saver fares are eligible for a 50% credit if cancelled at least 14 days before departure of the first flight on the ticket.
No same-day standby or same-day confirmed changes are allowed on Saver fares, regardless of Mileage Plan elite status.
Saver tickets appear as fare class (X) on your flight confirmation details.
You will be assigned a seat when you check in.
Saver seating is limited, and we cannot guarantee that groups will sit together. We don't recommend the Saver fare for parties of two or more.
Yes. At this time, you can only purchase Premium Class seats (if available) with a Saver fare while booking at alaskaair.com. Premium Class seats may also be available for purchase on the day of departure at the check-in kiosk or airport ticket counter/gate.
Note: If you purchase a Premium Class seat with a Saver fare, Saver fare restrictions still apply.
For flights departing on or after July 19, 2023: Paid upgrades may be available for purchase on the day of departure at the airport. If you purchase a paid upgrade with a Saver fare, Saver fare restrictions still apply.
Complimentary upgrades for Mileage Plan elites may be available 2 hours prior to departure. Upgrades with miles are not allowed with a Saver fare.
Once purchased, no refunds are allowed for Premium Class seat purchases or First Class paid upgrades.

If you don't get a seat when you check in, your seat will be automatically assigned at the gate.
Saver fare ticket holders board last, in boarding group E.
If you miss your flight while traveling on a Saver fare, all segments on your itinerary will be automatically canceled and the total fare will be forfeited.
If you purchased a Premium Class seat or a paid upgrade to First Class, you may board the aircraft according to your seat selection.

The carry-on allowance is the same as Main fares.

Yes. Certain seats are reserved for guests with disabilities. Call Alaska reservations after you've booked your flight to request a seat assignment. Your request must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled flight.

Yes, for Saver fare for flights departing before July 19, 2023, Saver fares will earn 1 mile for every 1 mile flown. For flights booked on or after May 22, 2023, departing on or after July 19, 2023, Saver fares will earn 30% of the actual miles flown.
You may board according to your status. Baggage fees are still waived according to your status, and you'll receive the same refreshments and inflight entertainment. Existing elite bonuses apply.
Note: All other Saver rules and restrictions apply. Saver fare cancel, change, or refund policies apply for all elites who purchase a Saver fare.
Prior to July 19, 2023, elites with Saver fare will not be eligible for complimentary upgrades.
For flights booked on or after May 22, 2023, departing on or after July 19, 2023, elites with Saver fares are eligible for complimentary upgrades to Premium Class seating or First Class within 2 hours prior to departure only, if available.
No. You will not have access to elite status seats (certain seats behind Premium Class or in the exit rows).
No, you cannot use the Money and Miles award with a Saver fare.
